  • Customized treatment goals
  • Weekly or biweekly scheduling
02

Couples Counseling

Restore connection and build communication patterns that actually hold under pressure. Whether you're facing a specific crisis or a slow drift, this work meets you where you are.

  • Practical coping strategies
05

Life Transitions

Career shifts, parenthood, loss, relocation—transitions force us to renegotiate who we are. This work helps you move through change with clarity instead of crisis.

About Dr. McGaughey

A clinician who
treats the person,
not the diagnosis

Dr. Beth McGaughey earned her doctorate in counseling psychology and has spent over fifteen years helping people in East Texas find their way through some of life's most difficult chapters. She opened her practice on North Green Street in Longview because she believes that high-quality mental health care should be accessible to the community that needs it most.

Her approach is integrative by necessity—people don't arrive with neat diagnostic categories. She draws from cognitive-behavioral, attachment-based, and somatic frameworks, matching the method to the person rather than asking the person to fit the method.

Before establishing her private practice, Dr. McGaughey worked in hospital and community mental health settings, giving her a broad perspective on how different systems serve—or fail—people in crisis. That experience shapes her commitment to warm, direct, and genuinely collaborative care.

Therapeutic Approach

What happens in
therapy with Dr. McGaughey

01

The Consultation

Your first call is a brief, no-obligation conversation. Dr. McGaughey listens to what brings you in, answers your questions, and determines whether her approach is a good fit. There's no pressure to commit on the spot.

02

Understanding the Pattern

Early sessions focus on mapping your history, your current challenges, and the patterns that keep you stuck. This isn't about finding fault—it's about building a clear picture of where you are and where you want to go.

03

Intervention & Growth

Once the picture is clear, treatment begins. You'll work with specific techniques tailored to your concerns—whether that's processing trauma, reshaping anxious thought patterns, or rebuilding relational skills. Progress is measured by your life, not just your symptoms.

04

Sustaining Change

As therapy winds down, the focus shifts to consolidation. You'll have a practical plan for maintaining progress, recognizing early warning signs, and knowing when to reach out for a booster session.
